Our Story

The idea behind Spiral sprang from the heads of two men who wanted to build innovative, scalable, and highly customizable software for K-12 schools. Dismayed that schools had two choices--to put together a dysfunctional patchwork of many different programs unable to communicate with each other or to overpay for proprietary systems--Spiral’s founders sat down to solve the problem with an entirely fresh approach and business model.

Our inventive team of people with many different talents, perspectives, and backgrounds united to make these big ideas work. We began building a comprehensive platform--one that would be available in all languages to all schools regardless of budget constraints or location; one that would integrate various features into one experience; one featuring such an elegant and intuitive design that it could be used by anyone. So that students worldwide could have equal opportunities, the decision was made that our software would be free, eliminating the prohibitive cost of change.

In the Summer of 2009 we released the beta version of our new system. In less than a year it was adopted by schools, colleges, museums and other educational institutions in 25 countries. This Spring we plan to release the production version of our software complete with new modules and features.

We invite all organizations with educational programs to try Spiral and send us feedback as we work tirelessly to accommodate the diverse requirements and exceed the expectations of our customers.
